A TEN-year-old boy was reduced to tears after he was told to remove a poppy bracelet he had worn to school.

The youngster proudly wore the bracelet to St Michael's Church of England Primary, Kingsteignton, on Thursday last week as an honour to those who lost their lives at war.

When his 64-year-old grandmother found out that a teacher had told him to take it off, she hit the roof.

But as soon as the school heard there was a complaint, it amended its policy to allow pupils to wear non-uniform material.
