Teignbridge Scout leader Alan Partridge claims he has been suspended amid allegations about his conduct which had allegedly 'offended' the county commissioner.

Mr Partridge, the district commissioner, confirmed the action in emails to our newsroom on Friday. He claimed the trouble stemmed from his success at turning around a 'failing' group in 2007 and making it one of the most successful in Devon.

He said the county could not cope with the increased demands his achievements were placing on the movement. He suggested colleagues had 'abused' him and that he could no longer trust them.

An association spokesman said: 'The suspension relates to Alan's approach to implementing Scout ?Association policy. This matter is now subject to an investigation and it would not be right to comment further on these matters until the investigation is complete.'
