A FIRST AID hero is being sought after he saved a woman from choking on her food at a Kingskerswell pub.
The mystery medic leapt into action at the Barn Owl pub after the casualty was seen to be struggling with a portion of homity pie.
The distressed diner, who told paramedics that his prompt actions had saved her life, is anxious to make contact with the Good Samaritan so she can thank him personally.
Staff at the popular inn said the man, believed to be with with his partner, could not be traced as he had not booked his visit.
He used abdominal thrusts - also known as the Heimlich Manoeuvre - to release the stubborn piece of pie.
A pub spokeswoman said: ‘I know the woman concerned wants to get in touch with the man. He was absolutely brilliant. Our chef, who is first aid trained, was on his way to help when the man sorted it all out. He did an amazing thing. We would also like to thank him for what he did.’
Paramedics were called to the pub just after 7.30pm on Tuesday to check over the casualty, who was said to be fine.
An ambulance spokesman immediately praised the man for his timely intervention. ‘It appears he did exactly the right thing - and for that he deserves the highest praise,’ said the spokesman.
An appeal to find the modest saviour via social media has so far drawn a blank.
