RAM raiders caused up to £20,000 damage to steal just hundreds of pounds from the Spar shop in Chagford.

Police are still hunting the trio who used a stolen P-registered Land Rover to cart off the haul inside a cash machine early on Saturday.

The gang reversed the vehicle through the shop window about 3.45am and used a chain to wrap round the machine and drag it from the store in The Square.

They dumped the vehicle at a farm two miles outside the town before escaping.

Det Insp Ben Deer, of Exeter CID, said the red Land Rover TDI – taken earlier from a farm outside Moretonhampstead – was driven 'at some speed' from the store.
