A SECTION of a cycleway that passes through Newton Abbot will close next week for improvement work.

The cycleway between the two cycleway bridges at Hackney Marsh will be closed on Tuesday, August 12 to enable surface improvement work to take place.

Specifically, the final rough section of the cycleway will be overlaid with tarmac.

Also, the surface will be raised on the edge of the smaller bridge to make it more accessible to all users, the Mid-Devon Advertiser understands.

It comes after the cycleway was partially closed in April between the car park off Greenhill Way and the first bridge to the south.
