POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision left a 16 year old boy with 'life threatening' injuries. The collision took place on the A382 at around 9.20pm.

A police report put out said that the boy was hit by a van and was rushed to hospital shortly after.

In a statement, Police said: 'Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious road traffic collision on the A382.

'Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a van and a pedestrian on the A382 near Newton Abbot, at around 9.20pm on Tuesday 19 September.

'The pedestrian, a 16-year-old local boy, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. His next of kin have been informed.

'The road was closed while an investigation was conducted by the Roads Policing Team.

'Officers would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed. It reopened at around 5am on Wednesday 20 September.
