SEVERE snow has forced librarians in Newton Abbot to drop their books and shut up shop for the day.

Staff at the town’s library have locked up the Passmore Edwards building in the town centre as heavy snow hits the district.

‘We are sorry to say we are closed today due to the weather, but we are hoping to be open as normal tomorrow,’ a spokesman said.
