TWO beaches in Teignbridge are among several in Devon where sewage has been discharged in the past 48-hours.

Storm sewage has been discharged from sewer overflows at Dawlish Town and Teignmouth Holcombe beaches, according to Surfer’s Against Sewage’s interactive tracking map.

Sewage discharge is common after heavy rainfall, as storm overflows are used to prevent drains being overwhelmed, but such circumstances sees sewage discharge leaked into the sea.

It comes after the Met Office issued weather warnings for rain and thunderstorms over the weekend.

Teignmouth Town and Dawlish Warren beaches were not flagged.
