AN inquest has been opened into the death of a 69-year-old pedestrian who was killed in a collision with a motor cycle in Shaldon in July.

Elizabeth Brown died at the scene of the collision on the A379 Torquay Road in Shaldon despite the efforts of the emergency services.

Area coroner Nicholas Lane said the divorced retired artist lived in Taunton, Somerset.

He said she had been crossing the road when she was struck by the silver coloured motorcycle.

He said the grandmother died from multiple injuries and the inquest at Devon Coroner’s Court has been adjourned.

Her family paid tribute earlier saying her bright paintings reflected her ‘strong, bright, intuitive, warm’ personality.

They said she ‘had a beautiful final day, spending time with Simon (her partner) and her cockapoo Bertie, swimming at Ness Beach in the sunshine’.
