SENIOR officers on a massive bulk carrier which sank a Teignmouth trawler, killing one of the crew, knew there had been a collision but failed to stop.
They also ignored a mayday distress signal and an official report has condemned their action as 'illegal, immoral and against all traditions of the sea'. Other boats in the area which did not try to assist are also criticised.
The crew of the Alam Pintar, a 90,000 tonne bulk carrier, were also accused of attempting a cover up by altering or destroying data, which was described as 'illegal and foolish'.
