FAMILY, friends and the footballing community have been shocked by the sudden death of popular Newton Abbot footballer and manager Chris Bassett.

Affectionately known as Boogie, Mr Bassett, 44, was found dead at his Kingskerswell home on Monday lunchtime.

Police are investigating the tragedy but say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the father of two, who was born and brought up in Kingsteignton.

Torbay and South Devon coroner Ian Arrow has been informed and a post mortem examination was due to be carried out on Wednesday.
