SEVERE staffing shortages have forced health chiefs to extend the temporary closure of the minor injuries unit at Ashburton and Buckfastleigh Community Hospital.

The facility will be shut for a further three months with minor bumps and scrapes being referred to hospitals in Newton Abbot and Totnes.

Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care Trust admitted this week that the staffing crisis had 'unfortunately not yet been resolved'.
