VISITING restrictions are being imposed on Ashburton Hospital after an outbreak of the norovirus vomiting and diarrhoea bug.

Health chiefs immediately called in a specialist cleaning team to help eradicate the virus, which was only identified on Tuesday.

They were also anxious to alert the public not to visit the hospital as part of their effort to kill the spread of the infection.
