A popular pub on the main road between Dawlish and Teignmouth has reopened just 24 hours after a kitchen fire.
The Smugglers Inn in Holcombe was forced to close following the blaze yesterday morning.
Three fire appliances from Teignmouth, Torquay and Newton Abbot, and an aerial ladder platform from Torquay, attended the premises.
There were no injuries and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue were able to leave the scene after two hours.
The Smugglers said it had reopened in time to serve a carvery lunch today and that the full menu would return within the next few days.
The pub praised its staff and contractors for pulling together so they could get ‘back up and running so quickly’.
