Two women in their 20s were responsible for building 60 small snowmen, near Teignmouth Golf Club, earlier this month. The snow figures drew the attention of many drivers and dog walkers in the area.

Last week the Mid-Devon Advertiser Series featured an article on the sculptures – which bear a resemblance to Antony Gormley's exhibition of thousands of clay figures – and asked the artists responsible to get in touch.

Thanks to a phone call, Kayleigh Matthews, from Dawlish, and her friend Rachel Price, 23, from Teignmouth, came forward and said they were behind the fun snow project.

'It was Rachel's idea,' said Ms Matthews, 24.

'It took about an hour and a half to make them and we are really pleased with how they came out.

'A lot of drivers went past and beeped their horns while we were building them, and even the police stopped to have a look.

'I didn't see the link to Antony Gormley until I saw the picture in the newspaper.'
