PREPARATIONS are well underway for the renowned Dawlish Water Rotary Club Mega Quiz.
Rotarians are hoping to raise another substantial amount from their hugely popular quiz, the first one of the year.
It will take place on Thursday, March 12 with a top prize of £100 and the coveted Heavitree Brewery trophy for the winners.
There will also be further attractive cash prizes to be won, including one for the team with the largest number of players on the night.
All winners will be asked to nominate their own particular charity to receive their prize money.
Over the 30-plus year life of the Rotary club over £250,000 has been raised for good causes.
The Rotary Mega quiz, one of two held during the year, attracts more than 30 teams from pubs and clubs throughout most of south and east Devon and further afield and has helped to support a wide range of local charities.
Rotary organiser Peter Harrison said: ‘The quiz is great fun and a superb community event.
‘There are three sections in the quiz each comprising 60 questions on a whole range of subjects, including general knowledge.
‘The rules are simple and questions straightforward and it’s an opportunity to hold a fun night that can benefit their own particular charities if they end up on the winners list.
‘And we welcome new teams, so please get in touch if you have not taken part before.’
Past winners have included the Palk Arms, the Swan Inn, The Anchor at Cockwood, the Cridford Inn and the Shipwrights Arms.
