Businesses in and around Teignbridge are being invited to sponsor categories at this year's Teignbridge Sports Personality Awards.

Eight category sponsorship opportunities remain for the November 2011 ceremony.

The main sponsors of the Teignbridge Council organised event are Newton Abbot Racecourse.

Category sponsors will see their company name included in the events programme and will be mentioned throughout the awards evening, and their logos will be displayed on the Teignbridge Sports Personality webpage next to their sponsored category.

Cllr George Gribble, the district's spokesman for communities, recreation and leisure, said: 'We're delighted to be welcoming Newton Abbot Racecourse as our primary sponsor for this year's awards. Its support will be vital in delivering one of our most popular annual events.

'We have lots more sponsorship opportunities on offer, and are keen to hear from local businesses who'd like to support sports, show their appreciation for local sportspeople and volunteers, and reach new potential customers at the same time.'

Pat Masterson, director of Newton Abbot Racecourse, added: 'The racecourse is absolutely delighted to be sponsoring the Teignbridge Sports Personality Awards for 2011.

'This evening represents what is great in local sport for both competitors and equally as important, the many volunteers.

'We believe this prestigious event should receive as much recognition as possible and we are delighted to come on board.'

The Teignbridge Sports Personality Awards take place on Friday, November 18 at the Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish Warren.

Nominations are currently being welcomed for 14 categories of awards, with shortlisted nominees expected to be announced by the end of September.

At the awards, local teams, clubs, young leaders, volunteers, coaches and performers will be recognised and rewarded for their hard work and dedication to sport and physical activity.
