SEVERE staff shortages have forced the closure of Ashburton and Buckfastleigh hospital's minor injuries unit immediately.
Temporary agency staff have been used to run the service while health bosses attempted to recruit two permanent specialist nurses.
But despite their efforts, it has been almost impossible in recent months to even find temporary cover.
Efforts to find permanent staff are continuing but the service will remain suspended until new nurses can be employed.
