A MARATHON 16-hour treadmill session has resulted in more than £1000 being raised for the Stanley Beau Foundation last weekend.
The charity, set up in memory of Newton Abbot youngster Stanley Beau Murphy who sadly passed away from a life-limiting illness last year, provides holidays, short breaks and days out in Devon for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families to help them make happy memories memories together with the precious time they have left.
Sherrie Vine, together with her father-in-law, Ray Vine, set off on treadmills at Newton Abbot Quay on midnight on Friday, – and sixteen hours, 55 miles and 100,000 steps later, finished their non-stop walk at just after 4pm.
Said a delighted Sherrie: ‘We’re are amazed at the amount we have raised – it’s far more than we ever expected. The support we received throughout the day was fantastic.’
‘I’d like to thank everyone who came and supported us throughout Saturday, especially Kelly Wagstaff who helped organise the event and Love Food who donated ten per cent of their takings to the charity.’
