SUPERMARKET giant Tesco this week promised that councils who wanted to revert to their own recycling banks in the store car parks could do so.,A Tesco spokesman maintained on Wednesday that the replacement of the council banks to a private contractor country-wide was a trial after some authorities revealed they were stopping providing the service.,'So that customers didn't lose out, we trialled a scheme to provide our own recycling banks. A few councils were concerned they might lose revenue if we provided the service instead.,'We are consulting local authorities, including Devon, to ensure we have a scheme that meets everyone's needs and have made it clear that any council which wants to retain or revert to its own recycling banks in our car parks can do so.,'This trial was only ever about making sure customers could still bring their recycling to our stores. It wasn't about making any profit for Tesco. Any proceeds were going to local good causes,' she said.,
