TWO walkers were rescued from Dartmoor after getting lost in ‘horrendous’ weather conditions yesterday.

The Asburton-based search and rescue team traced the stranded pair to an old explosives hut at Crossways, between Buckfastleigh and Ivybridge.

The ramblers had set off from Ivybridge in the morning but their expedition to Scorriton came a cropper when the weather closed in as they left the Two Moors Way to link up with Abbots Way.

Four members of the rescue team used two Land Rovers to travel 12kms along the Puffy Billy Track to reach the pair after venturing forth at 2.30pm.

A spokesman for the rescuers said: ‘Although cold, the walkers were safe and well. Hot tea was given and they were escorted off the moor.’
