BOVEY Castle’s head chef, Mark Budd, cooked up a success at this year’s Battle of Eden competition with his 1970s-style pate.
Eight head chefs, each from a different hotel in the Eden Hotel Collection, descended on Mallory Court, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire to fight for the title by taking classic dishes from the 70s and giving them a modern twist.
Eden’s Food and Beverage director, Simon Haigh, introduced each course without revealing its creator before guests decided who they wanted to win.
Mr Budd, who took over as head chef at Bovey Castle earlier this year, said: ‘This is my first Battle of Eden competition and I thought the theme of taking classic dishes from the 1970s and giving them a modern twist was brilliant.
‘It provided me and the other highly talented chefs who work for the Eden Hotel Collection with a real challenge, which makes it even more memorable that I won. It was a great night and I’m looking forward to next year with the hope of retaining my title.’
