TEIGNBRIDGE MP Richard Younger-Ross went along to the Mary Rose Centre, Buckland, Newton Abbot, on Saturday, to congratulate youngsters and adults who received certificates for mastering stage two of the British Sign Language (BSL) course.

The course was organised by the Exeter and South Devon Deaf Children Society, which fought hard to get the teenagers, aged 13 to 15, on the BSL stage two. Those under 16 years were previously not eligible to take it.

Thanks to plenty of pressure, and funding from local councils, businesses, Rotary and Lions Clubs, the stage two courses, which cost nearly £4,000, went ahead and everyone passed with flying colours.
