Sue Clarke was formerly a headteacher in London and moved to the county to become an adviser for primary schools in south Devon.
Later she helped to reorganise Exeter's education and has recently been working on school improvement across Devon.
She has been instrumental in helping schools to federate, an area in which Devon is recognised as a national leader, and works with the National College for School Leadership.
Ms Clarke lives at Ilsington with her partner
