A CHARITY that provides support services for adults with learning disabilities is holding it’s first ever art exhibition this week.

Devon Link-Up, based in Honiton and providing support for adults throughout Devon, will be displaying works created at a pop-up gallery in Unit 10 of Newton Abbot’s Market Walk.

Said Devon Link-Up’s event planner Jo Hare: ’During lockdown we provided support if the form of a WhatsApp group to keep communications open with us and give our clients a place to voice there thoughts and emotions whilst we couldn’t have face-to-face contact.

‘Through this group we set daily artwork challenges to provide them with a creative outlet which proved to be a great success.’

In fact it has been so successful that the charity accumulated a host of unique and wonderful pieces of artwork for this innovative exhibition which, thanks to Lottery funding, will now be on display in Newton Abbot.

Jo continued: ‘Newton Abbot was chosen as the venue as we already ran a Saturday group in the town and were impressed at how friendly and supportive the town has been.

‘The exhibition promises to be an immersive experience. To keep everything and everyone covid safe the displays will be set up as a walk-through experience to keep everyone at a safe distance.’

The exhibition will be officially opened to invited guests by Newton Abbot’s mayor Richard Jenks on the evening of October 26, with the public being invited to view the displays from Tuesday October 27 to Friday 30 between the hours of 10am and 4pm.
