A Teignbridge GP surgery has removed an advertisement from its website after an investigation by the Advertiser discovered it was for a shamanistic healer who offered information on 'safe alternative methods of experiencing death'.
Until this week the ad for Buckfast man Peter Aziz featured on the front page of the Albany Surgery website.
The practice serves Newton abbot, Kingsteignton, Buckland, Milber, Aller Park, Abbotskerswell, Ogwell, Bickington, Chipley and Highweek.
The ad carried only Mr Aziz's name, the word homeopathy and a telephone number.
But Mr Aziz is well known among alternative therapy circles and appeared in a 2007 BBC television documentary in which he failed to prove he could treat cancer.
He also has his own website. On it he claims to have enabled a crippled boy to walk, successfully treated serious illnesses and healed broken bones within hours.
