TOMORROW'S 43rd annual Christian Aid Sponsored Walk around the service track at Newton Abbot racecourse will be the first one in its history that Sydney Williams has not attended.
He started the walk in 1968 and organised it for 42 years, along with house to house collections and bread and cheese lunches during Lent, and last year was praised for his tremendous efforts at a presentation when he completed the organisation for the final time.
During that time more than £329,000 was raised for Christian Aid to help some of the world's poorest countries.
