FIREFIGHTERS are urging people to take extra care when visiting scenic locations in the area after a beauty spot in Bovey Tracey was left in a sorry state.
The town’s fire station is reminding people that glass bottles and campfires, like those pictured above, which were left in Parke, have all been responsible for large fires that the crew have attended in the past.
The same applies to discarded cigarettes and disposable barbecues.
The reminder comes as the UK Health Security Agency issued a six-day heat health alert for the South West.
The alert came into force today, Wednesday, July 9 and lasts until 10am on July 15.
Temperatures are expected to hit as high as 33 degrees Celsius in some parts of England, with temperatures in the South West expected to reach as high as 28 degrees Celsius.
Significant impacts are possible across health and social care services due to the high temperatures, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) says.
