Drinkers in a Teignmouth pub were treated to a Christmas Day audience with the founder of the Wetherspoons chain after he dropped in for a festive drink.

Sir Tim Martin visited the Jolie Brise at around 12.30pm on Thursday (December 25) to catch up with staff and managers.

His famous haircut soon attracted the attention of customers and he happily posed for photographs.

‘He was really friendly and came and sat down with us for a chat,’ said customer Tony Daniels. ‘Several people spoke to him,’ he added.

Sir Tim, who lives near Exeter, was knighted two years ago for his services to hospitality and culture.

He is well-known for visiting the pubs in his Wetherspoons chain as part of his commitment to the company and its customers.
