NEWTON Abbot has shown it was bursting with young artistic talent last week as the winners of the Newton in Bloom painting competition were revealed.

The mayor, Cllr Liz Roberts, presented eight primary school children with certificates and prizes for all their hard work in producing their Queen’s birthday themed masterpieces.

Claiming first place in the nursery and reception category was Freya Treacher, with Callum Glanfield coming second and Elliot Currey in third, all three pupils are from Newton Abbot Pre-School.

Highweek Primary School’s Keira Harvey was crowned winner of the Key Stage 1 category, with Gracie Morgan-Bush from Bradley Barton Primary School taking second place and Angel-Mai Manning from Highweek Primary School third.

Ruby Briggs and Momo Middleton from Bradley Barton Primary School claimed first and second place in the Key Stage 2 category, with Yvie Miller from Highweek Primary School third.
