Trustees of a Buckfastleigh community space are gearing up to begin their summer season with events over this Easter weekend, April 1 and 2.
The OMG Trust, which manages the Orchard Millennium Green, will be officially kicking off the season with a double header of their flagship Tea on the Green afternoons.
Residents and visitors are invited to a lazy afternoon on the Green, with refreshing cuppas, slices of homemade cake and musical entertainment.
Trustee Ann Werry said: ‘After a wet and soggy winter we’re delighted spring is finally here and we look forward to welcoming back all of our regulars as well as all new guests who would like to enjoy a sunny Sunday afternoon in our company.’
The Tea on the Green events will begin on Easter Sunday, April 1 and Easter Monday, April 2, from 2pm.
Mrs Werry added: ‘We’re very pleased to announce we will once again be entertained by a specially invited jazz band led by local musician David Field with some delightful, upbeat tunes.
‘Additional music will be provided by Trefor K Jones and we thank them for their services.’
The tea party afternoons will then continue throughout the spring and summer season on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays (weather permitting) until around the end of October.
Other upcoming events at the Green include the Annual Fun Day on June 24.
Trust Chairman Andrew Rudgley said: ‘We had a momentous 2017 and are eagerly anticipating another super schedule for the year ahead.
‘We would like to thank all of the volunteers who’ve worked tirelessly to help us bring to you a fantastic programme of events and we’d be very keen to hear from any keen individuals who would like to come and join us.
‘Becoming part of our team doesn’t necessarily require a huge commitment, and whether you would like to volunteer in the Coffee House for a couple of Sunday afternoons per year, host your own event on the Green or even put your name forward as a trustee, please do get in touch, we would be delighted to hear from you.’
