PRECIOUS portraits that captures a young cancer patient with his family just months before he died has been found after an appeal in last week's Teignmouth Post. The family of Teignmouth lad Jamie Rendall lost touch with the photographer after the pictures were taken in 2005. Soon after, five year-old Jamie lost his fight for life in a battle against an aggressive form of the disease. But after seeing last week's Teignmouth Post, the photographer has come forward with a number of pictures of the family together. Newton-Abbot based cameraman Alastair MacPhee spotted the article by chance as he browsed in a newsagents. He said: 'I thought, "hang on, that rings a bell. That was me." 'I remember being so touched by the family that I put all of the pictures on disk and posted them with a note saying "these are for you to use as you wish", but did not follow it up to check they arrived because I did not want to be pushy,' he said. But the disk never arrived and the family have been wondering what happened to the snaps ever since. Jamie's mum, Kelly Rendall, of Moorview Drive, said she burst into tears when Mr MacPhee came forward. 'I've been in tears since he called to say he would try and find the photos and then in tears again when he telephoned back to say he'd found them, 'Thanks to the article, I am so happy and a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. 'It has brought a closure and has been a lovely surprise to look at new photos of Jamie 20 months after we lost him – he looks more grown up than I remembered him. ' It's been an emotional day – I keep bursting into tears with happiness and sadness all in one'.
