A teenager has been banned from Teignmouth, Dawlish and Newton Abbot town centres following a spate of crime and anti-social behaviour.

The 16-year-old appeared in court charged with 12 offences and nine further breaches of a youth anti-social behaviour civil injunction.

He was bailed by the court with conditions including exclusions from Teignmouth, Dawlish and Newton Abbot town centres, electronic tagging, a curfew and an obligation to engage with the Youth Justice Service.

Police say they’ve also made arrests in connection with a recent series of motorcycle thefts across Shaldon, Teignmouth, Bishopsteignton, Newton Abbot and Heathfield, and enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Teignmouth and Dawlish Police said: “We are very aware of the frustrations in the community around youth ASB, and want to reassure the public that the Neighbourhood Policing Team are pursuing persistent offenders to make our towns safer.

“We would urge residents to continue reporting via 999 if there is an immediate risk or a crime is ongoing, or via 101 or online at https://orlo.uk/lk8qI.”
