FIREFIGHTERS from Teignbridge were called to assist a fire that broke out at a Exmouth property.
Such was the scale of Friday’s incident [September 26] at Claredale Road that, in addition to crew from Exmouth, Danes Castle, Middlemoor, Torquay and Totnes, firefighters from Bovey Tracey saw action.
A fire was located in the garden of property, but had spread to the roof eaves.
Having extinguished the fire in the garden, crews began work with the interior and the exterior of the building, stripping away plasterboard and tiles to prevent any fire spread.
Fire was located between roof tiles and plasterboard: crews used ladders, hose reel jets, small tools, battery saws, thermal image cameras and gas monitors throughout the operation.
The cause of the fire was believed to be accidental, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.
