A HOUSE blaze in Totnes yesterday, Tuesday, June 17, saw crew from more than ten fire stations mobilised.

Initially mobilising three appliances, it quickly became apparent that the fire at Rhine Villa, which had spread to two adjacent properties, warranted a 'Make Pumps 5' request, shortly followed by a ‘Make Pumps 8' request.

In total, crew from 13 stations, including Ashburton, Bovey Tracey, Buckfastleigh and Newton Abbot, tackled the blaze.

Throughout the duration of the incident, which ran well into the evening, crews used six breathing apparatus, two attack jets, four hose reel jets, an aerial ladder platform, two water bowsers and thermal imaging cameras.

The fire was confirmed as accidental, Devon and Somerset Fire and Service has said.
