Teignmouth Promenade parkrun welcomed its 70,000th participant on Saturday (July 26).
Simon Alpin, a regular at the seafront event, was the runner to achieve the milestone.
The Teignmouth parkrun course was launched nearly seven years ago. Since then, organisers estimate that the event has attracted around 150,000 spectators and participants.
The event only goes ahead thanks to the time and effort put in by a dedicated team of volunteers.
‘Not only does Teignmouth parkrun have proven health benefits, it has also had a big economic impact on Teignmouth with traders across the town reporting increased customer numbers as a direct result of parkrun,’ commented Teignmouth Promenade parkrun event director Paul Burgess.
Earlier this year, Teignmouth Promenade parkrun added parkwalk its weekly event to encourage people of all ages and abilities to participate.
