A FREE concert is on offer, to celebrate the 225th anniversary of a Teignmouth church. It will be held at the United Reformed Church on November 21, and all 200 tickets are being given away.

Two groups are providing the music.

Schola Exe is the Devon County senior girls choir – many of the young ladies are former Exeter Cathedral choristers, and several are on course to follow previous singers by studying music and becoming professional performers.

Their musical director and accompanist are both senior staff from Exeter Cathedral, and have put together a programme that contains both classical and modern pieces.

South West Camerata is a string ensemble which takes the best young musicians from anywhere in the South West Peninsula – many of them are heading towards careers as professional musicians. Like Schola Exe, they are preparing a programme that includes modern and classical items.

’This promises to be another great Teignmouth event. If you love excellent music, or if you have any personal or family link to the United Reformed Church, try to get a ticket for the evening,’ said John Smith, who is preparing a history of the church.
