A Teignmouth woman whose father has dementia is organising a live music fundraiser to support the specialist nurses who help families affected by the condition.

‘Bands Against Dementia’ will take place at Teignmouth Rugby Football Club from 7pm on Saturday, November 7, bringing together three local acts to raise money for Dementia UK.

Celtic Dawn, The Ben Brown Band and The Set will perform during the evening, with MC Dave Robbins hosting proceedings.

A raffle featuring prizes donated by local businesses will also help boost the fundraising total.

Tickets cost £10, with all proceeds from ticket sales and the raffle going directly to Dementia UK to support its Admiral Nurses, who provide specialist support to families affected by dementia.

The event is being organised by Caroline Ellacott, whose father has dementia.

She said the experience had inspired her to do something positive to support people living with the condition and their families.

‘I wanted to do something positive in support of dementia care, as my dad has dementia’, she said.

‘I’m organising the event to give something back to the nurses who do such important work and to help raise funds so they can continue providing the best possible care’.

Caroline said she hoped the evening would bring the community together for a good cause while celebrating local musical talent.

‘It’s going to be a great night, featuring three bands, a raffle with prizes generously donated by local businesses, and an MC to keep things running’, she said.

She will also take to the stage herself, performing on the fiddle during the event.

Dementia UK is a specialist dementia nursing charity which provides support through its Admiral Nurse service, helping families navigate the challenges that dementia can bring.

The event offers an opportunity for residents to enjoy live music, support local performers and contribute to a cause that makes a difference to families across the country.

Tickets cost £10 and are available from the TicketSource website.
