THOUSANDS are expected to flock into Teignmouth for the annual jazz and blues festival, now rated as one of the best in the land.

Said committee member Jim Stevens: ’We have a national and international reputation, with fans coming from all over the country and Europe. The festival enhances Teignmouth’s reputation for music of all genres, and brings huge economic benefits to local businesses, especially pubs and cafes,’

There are six main venues, the Methodist Church. the Ice Factory, the Teign Heritage Centre, the British Legion Club and the Bronx bar, with 32 main gigs. There are also numerous fringe venues and acts.

The festival, from Friday, November 13, to Sunday, November 15, is now in its 27th year, and has increased in scope and popularity over the years.

It costs about £14,000 to put on, with backing from the town council, and supermarket Waitrose this week donated £397 from customers’ tokens.
