THE Duke of Edinburgh is coming to help Ten Tors celebrate its 50th anniversary next month.

The challenge sees more than 2,000 youngsters take to the hills every spring, overcoming blisters, fatigue and whatever the Dartmoor weather holds.

Celebrations are planned for this year's event on May 8-9, including a visit by the event's patron.

'We are absolutely thrilled, the duke has been a very staunch supporter of Ten Tors throughout,' said Ten Tors secretary, Maj Nigel Wylie Carrick, of Staff HQ 43 (Wessex) Brigade.
