VOLUNTEER guides who escort blind visitors to Teignmouth on trips and activities have been recognised.

They were given a special lunch at Cliffden, the hotel that specialises in holidays for the blind and partially sighted.

And the longest serving member, Mo Hook, who has been involved for more than 15 years, was also presented with a long service certificate, flowers and a voucher.

'They really are appreciated by our guests as they accompany them on our organised trips, private outings in the area and activities around the hotel,' said Cllr Ian Parkes, who is the volunteer organiser for Vision Hotels.

'They are so caring and skilful and really are a credit to Teignmouth and Dawlish.'

He added: 'What would we do without Mo?
