A SELECTION of the finest crafts in the land were on display for all to see this past weekend as the Internationally-renowned Bovey Tracey Craft Festival got underway.
Held in Mill Marsh Park, some 8000 people attended the three day event which featured as many as 200 craft businesses in addition to numerous workshops, demonstrations, food and drink stalls and more.
Adding to the atomsphere were all manner of musicians including but not limited to contemporary folk act Cosgrave & Soph, Griselda Sanderson and Becky Brine.
A handful of celebrity guests were in attendance also such as TV’s ‘Great Pottery Throwdown’ judge, potter and now author Keith Brymer Jones, who hosted a series of master classes and accomplished animator and sculptor Jim Parkyn, of ‘Wallace and Gromit’ fame who spearheaded various workshops across the weekend.
Craft Festival came about in 2003 when a group of Bovey Tracey craft businesses joined together to form a non-profit making company with the aim to bring a large craft fair to the town.
The aim of the Fair was to showcase the very best in British craft and the create a sustainable and strong market place for contemporary craft.
