John Nutley narrowly missed out on retaining his post, with 967 votes. Paul Parker stood down from the council. Cllr Stuart Barker who has been a district councillor for 12 years retained his seat by obtaining 1219 votes. He is now joined by Cllr Philip Vogel and Cllr Chris Dennis who received 971 and 1,286 respectively. 'The campaign is hard work but it's gratifying the hard work has paid off,' said Cllr Barker. Cllr Vogel has a lot of experience when it comes to local council. He was the town clerk for Chudleigh Town Council for six years, until around two years ago and he was a councillor for Bradley ward in Newton Abbot 20 years ago. 'As I only got the seat by four votes I know I have a lot of work to do in the next four years, he said. 'My work will centre around the swimming pool, allotment space and the localism bill.' Liberal Democrat John Farrand-Rogers had 467 votes and fellow candidate Lloyd Fursdon received 579. Michael Harriott for Labour received 627 and other Labour candidate Robert O'Kelly got 565. Green Party candidate Simon Wood got 820 votes. The turnout was 45.78 per cent.
