Teignmouth Beach Cleans resumed when 20 people joined in meeting at the Lighthouse.
Covid 19 precautions were taken and everyone who wanted one was offered a mask, hand gel was also provided.
David Cox said: ‘It was a beautiful morning, although it started to rain latter. It was really wonderful to have so many Teignmouth people, coming together to do a bit of good for the environment.’
After a brief safety talk, litter picking equipment was handed out to those attending. Then the volunteers moved off to the beach, keeping one metre apart, collecting everything they found that did not belong on the beach. A dozen sacks full of rubbish were collected from the area around the Point and the Back Beach, recyclable items were picked out, before disposal.
Local traders offered volunteers a free cup of tea with an ice cream treat for youngsters.
‘Teignmouth Beach Clean welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds to join in for a few hours where we will clean the Back Beach and Point. We ensure that the collected rubbish is disposed of responsibly in cooperation with Teignbridge Council’s Resorts Team.’
