Last Saturday's party in the park, organised and hosted by Dawlish and Teignmouth Round Table, has been judged the biggest and best day's entertainment of its kind ever held in Dawlish.

With an estimated 6-8,000 people gathered on the lawn under cloudless skies, the evening kicked off with a tribute to the Beatles by Beatles UK. They played a string of the Fab Four's greatest hits to get the crowd on their feet.

Second on the bill was Abba tribute band Abba Rival, who played a flawless set of hits from the Swedish seventies supergroup.

But the evening really started to rock when Manchester band QEII took the stage by storm and played a superb set of Queen's greatest hits.

The evening climaxed with a stunning firework display under a full moon.

This was the biggest and most challenging event organised by the Round Table and took months of organisation.

Some £5,000 was raised on the day in the bucket collection and further donations are expected, which should take the final tally over £6,000.
