Dave Grylls, of Wolverton Drive, Kingsteignton, writes:
Cllr Jeremy Christophers and Teignbridge Council certainly know how to make friends.
First, they tell us they would like to close half the toilets in Teignbridge.
Have they any idea how many people have serious need of toilets at the most unexpected times? For example there are an enormous number of elderly persons on some sort of medication concerning water problems.
Once again this will drive many more people to the out of town shopping area where there will be toilets and unrestricted parking.
If you wish to save money let us cut unwanted officialdom within the council itself and non-jobs.
Second, CCTV is likely to go – can it get any worse?
Criminals will have a field day and those taken short through lack of toilet facilities will be able to cause offence by urinating just about everywhere.
Teignbridge Council is having a laugh even to suggest that costs for security arrangements should be met by local traders.
I can understand the town manager being upset; she has worked really hard to help business and improve the town centre as a whole.
No doubt voters will remember how all these situations have been handled and will vote accordingly, in the coming elections.
It is time for change both locally and nationally.
I think few people would object to paying for the use of toilet facilities.
There are automatic self-cleaning toilets all over the country but not in newton Abbot.
Fee paying toilets would probably cover most costs and, if an attendant was provided, even curb vandalism.MORE LETTERS IN OUR DIGITAL EDITION
