EXETER Leukaemia Fund (Elf) is to run an Ears 4 Elf day.

On December 11, the fund wants members of the public to wear a pair of Elf ears and take an ‘elfyselfy’ to raise funds for the charity.

Elf was established in 1987 and aims to assist families affected by blood cancers and blood disorders.

The charity provides transport, accommodation and guidance services to families whose lives have been affected following a diagnosis.

Elf also funds roles within the haematology ward and research into treatment.

In and around Exeter five people a week will be told they have a blood cancer or disorder such as leukaemia, myeloma or a lymphoma, treatment for which lasts months and often years.

All money raised from Ears 4 Elf Day will go towards helping families affected by blood cancers and disorders across Devon

Former Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club lock Chris Bentley will be donning his Elf ears on December 11, adding: ‘I have been to the R D & E and I know what a great job Elf does helping families in Devon.

‘On December 11 I will be wearing my Elf ears with pride.’
