Teignmouth Promenade parkrun celebrated its 100th birthday on Saturday.
321 runners took part in the weekly parkrun held on Teignmouth seafront with around an additional 400 spectators.
This means a total of more than 21,000 people have taken part in the parkrun since it started in September 2019 and the event has attracted more than 35,000 including spectators making it the most successful regular event in the history of Teignmouth.
The photograph shows a number of the regular volunteers who turn out each Saturday morning helping set up and marshal this event. Weather conditions were damp but this did not stop runners showing their enthusiasm especially people new to parkrun.
The parkrun is a 5k run, walk, stroll on the sea front each Saturday at 8:45am and all are very welcome no matter what your ability ....its about getting some exercise on a Saturday morning.’
Event director Paul Burgess, the inspiration behind setting up this event, said: ‘Teignmouth parkrun has been a huge success, I can’t thank our team of very dedicated volunteers who marshal and set up each Saturday they are exceptional and deserve a fantastic amount of praise.
‘Without them we could not operate.
‘Our runners, walkers and all who participate are an inspiration to us all with so many stories and personal achievements thanks to parkrun.
‘I would like to say a very big thank you to all volunteers and runners who all have helped to make Teignmouth parkrun a hugely successful event.’
