Moretonhampstead Food & Drink Festival returns on Saturday, August 22, offering a feast of local produce, live entertainment and community spirit.
The festival will take place from 10am until 4pm in Cross Street and The Square.
Among this year’s food exhibitors are Riverford Organic Farmers, Cheezeboard, Dartmoor Chilli Farm, Stanbury Wild Game, Flavour Burst (chutneys and honey), Justine’s Kitchen (Polish cuisine), Awesome Brownies, The Churros Company and Edward’s Fudge Kitchen. There’ll be drinks from the Master Coffee Company, Copperhead Ales, Devon Cove vodka and liqueurs, Devon Rum Co, Black Rabbit ciders, Huxbear Vineyard and Sip Shed bottled cocktails. There’ll even be treats for canine visitors from Delicious 4 Dogs.
Free parking is available in Moretonhampstead.
The festival is organised entirely by volunteers from Moretonhampstead Carnival, with all proceeds supporting the Carnival's local charities and helping to fund community activities throughout the year.
Visitors travelling to via the A382 should be aware of the ongoing major roadworks by Devon County Council. The road may be reopened for the day, using temporary traffic lights, but if this is not possible a diversion will be signposted. Visitors are advised not to use the narrow backlanes to try and avoid delays; the lanes aren’t suitable for large volumes of traffic and have been badly congested during the roadworks.
Instead, people are being encouraged to allow extra travel time and make the most of the free parking to explore the town’s shops, art gallery, pubs and cafes.
Festival organiser Sam Parkin said: "We're really looking forward to welcoming visitors back for another fantastic Food & Drink Festival.
“We have an excellent selection of traders, plenty of delicious food and drink, live entertainment and a wonderful community atmosphere.
“Although there are roadworks on the A382, we're hopeful disruption will be kept to a minimum and we look forward to welcoming visitors from across Devon."
