THOUSANDS of tonnes of sand eroded from Shaldon beach is being replaced, writes John Ware.

It will, hopefully, help protect the village from the winter storms and also ensure there is a healthy beach for the summer season.

It follows a similar operation a few weeks ago to shore up the foundations of The Point car park across the estuary at Teignmouth, with sand moved from another part of The Point.
